How strange attractor art takes form.
A dynamical system describes how something changes over time. In a chaotic system, even a tiny difference in the starting point can lead to very different paths.
A strange attractor gives that motion a structure. Its trajectories can fold and return through a bounded region without settling into a simple repeating loop. Hidden Equations explores these paths as geometry, turning an abstract process into something we can see.
A starting point
Mathematical systems provide the rules that guide each exploration.
A form emerges
The mathematical system is integrated over time to create a three-dimensional path. Using Chimpanzee in Grasshopper for Rhinoceros, a cross-section is swept along this rail to give the trajectory volume.
An artistic perspective
Materials, composition and lighting in 3ds Max shape the final image. These works are created without generative AI.

Riccardo Zerbinati
Artist behind Hidden Equations
“I want to reveal the hidden beauty of chaos theory.”
Hidden Equations grew from my fascination with mathematics and the forms it can reveal. My aim is to make the hidden beauty of chaos theory visible—turning an abstract idea into a form people can explore through light, depth and material. I use a parametric workflow to explore chaotic systems, then work with materials, light and composition to give each image its own presence.
The collection brings together 40 studies of strange attractors. Each is an invitation to slow down and look at a mathematical idea as a visual experience.

Enquire about an artwork ↗How can I acquire an artwork?
Send the title of the work you are interested in and tell us what you have in mind. Availability, format, dimensions and pricing are confirmed individually before any purchase.
Can I enquire about a print?
Yes. Include your preferred size and destination country in your message so suitable print options and delivery can be discussed.
Are these physical sculptures?
The works shown here are digital renders of three-dimensional geometry. Their metallic appearance is created through materials and lighting in 3ds Max.
